The Twins have placed righthander J.R. Graham on the 15-day disabled list, one day after he picked up his first major league win.

That allowed the Twins to activate Blaine Boyer from the 15-day disabled list after recovering from a sore left elbow.

Graham has been diagnosed with a strained right shoulder. He gave up one run over two-thirds of an inning. He reported soreness on Wednesday. Graham's four-seam fastball averaged 97.6 miles an hour on Sunday against Baltimore but was a season low 93.9 on Tuesday, the dip in velocity suggesting something was wrong.

In 34 games, Graham was 1-1 with a 5.15 ERA. The Twins selected him in the Rule 5 draft in December and had to carry him on the 40-man roster all season.

The swap of Boyer for Graham adds another veteran arm to the bullpen, something Twins manager Paul Molitor has spoken a lot of recently.

The Rays have placed catcher Curt Casali on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring and have called up catcher J.P. Arencibia - yes, him - from Class AAA Durham. And Desmond Jennings injured his left knee last night and is not in the lineup.

Trade talks among front offices have continued to pick up over the last week. The Twins are seeking bullpen help and possibly an infielder.
