Twins option Pressly before split squad games

The Twins' roster is slowly coming together as they play two games today.

The Twins optioned righthander Ryan Pressly this morning, telling him that he needs to control his fastball better so he can get ahead in the count. Pressly posted an 8.31 ERA in camp.

This comes one day after Michael Tonkin was cut, which means the bullpen situation is starting to clear up.

You can pretty much write down Blaine Boyer for a spot. The veteran has looked composed throughout camp. Mark Hamburger also has impressed the club and has a good shot of making the club too. With Glen Perkins, Brian Duensing, Casey Fien and Tim Stauffer pretty much assured of spots, the Twins might have just one or two spots open.

I'm in Port Charlotte, where the Twins will play the Rays. Phil Miller is in Fort Myers, where the other half of the split squad will face Baltimore. Glen Perkins is expected to make his first Grapefruit League appearance of the spring there.

Here's the Twins lineup in Port Charlotte, facing Jake Odorizzi:

Jordan Schafer, LF
Eduardo Escobar, 2B
Eduardo Nunez, 3B
Kennys Vargas, 1B
Eddie Rosario, RF
Shane Robinson, CF
Eric Fryer, C
Tyler Grimes, DH
Doug Bernier, SS

Trevor May, RHP

And here's the Twins lineup at home against the O's:

Danny Santana, SS
Brian Dozier, 2B
Joe Mauer, 1B
Torii Hunter, RF
Oswaldo Arcia, LF
Trevor Plouffe, 3B
Kurt Suzuki, DH
Josmil Pinto, C
Aaron Hicks, CF

Tommy Milone, LHP
