Instead of having the interleague rivals meet for three-game weekend series twice a year, the league has switched to a pair of two-game series at the beginning of the week. It will be interesting to see how it goes over with fans. ... Drew Butera is recovering from a broken finger, so he'd be unable to bail the Twins out if they get in trouble in Milwaukee. On May 20, 2012, the Twins were drilled 16-4 in Milwaukee, and Butera was needed to pitch. ... Kevin Correia has been deemed healthy, but the Twins gave him two extra days off before his start on Monday. ... The Twins are 17-19 at Miller Park. ... Diamond went 5 ⅓ innings to beat the Brewers last year at Miller Park — and also got his first major league hit.

BREWERS UPDATE

Carlos Gomez always had ability, but people wondered when he would put it all together. Gomez is fifth in the National League with a .331 batting average and has a nice .961 OPS despite having walked just nine times. Gomez spent two formative years (2008-09) with the Twins. ... Milwaukee did pretty good trading Zack Greinke to the Angels in the middle of 2012 for shortstop Jean Segura and two other minor leaguers. Segura is batting .344. ... Against Correia, Corey Hart is batting .381 with a home run and Jonathan Lucroy is 5-for-12 with two doubles. ... Ryan Braun homered off Diamond last season at Miller Park, the last time they faced each other.
