The Twins hoped that Jack Morris would be headed to Cooperstown this summer. They have another destination in mind for him, too: Target Field.

The team is in negotiations with the St. Paul native to bring him back to Minneapolis as part of its broadcast team, a position he held on a part-time basis for eight seasons.

"We've had discussions with Jack about it, and we certainly hope we can reach an agreement," Twins President Dave St. Peter said of Morris, who joined Sportsnet, which broadcasts Blue Jays games, as a color analyst on the radio last season, after appearing intermittently on Twins broadcasts from 2005-2012. "We have a lot of respect for the Blue Jays organization, but we have great interest in finding a way to make Jack part of Twins broadcasts again."

The Twins have an opening in their TV and radio lineup, created when Ron Coomer was hired by the Cubs to join their radio broadcasts. St. Peter said he spoke to Morris earlier this week, and "I expect we will have further discussions about his role." Morris could not be reached for comment.
