Well, the Twins thought Justin Morneau was available to pinch hit last night.

Heard in the clubhouse that Morneau was going to try to pinch hit late in the game if needed. Brian Duensing had on his cleats and would have pinch ran for Morneau if he got on base. But Morneau's stomach flu is something else. One teammate said Morneau didn't look good by the end of the game.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Morneau needed two more i.v. bags during the game last night (that's five this week, if you're counting). The plan was for him to stay at the team hotel for most of the night, then join the team to fly back to the Twin Cities.

Delmon Young is feeling better and his sore left rib area was better. But he won't play tonight and will have a MRI exam on Friday at home before he proceeds.

Going back to last Thursday when Joe Mauer took ill, this team has been shorthanded in six of the eight games during this road trip. First it was Mauer, then Morneau came to the park on Sunday feeling sick, then Young went down Monday.

Gardy was asked before tonight's game if he felt like it was one thing after another with his team. ``I don't think it is," he said, ``I KNOW it is."

Top pitching prospect Kyle Gibson took a no-no into the seventh inning today in the first game of a doubleheader in Buffalo. The games were seven innings each, so he was working on a shortened no-no.

Gibson, however, gave up a game-tying homer in the seventh and was pulled from the game. The game went into extras, and Kyle Waldrop gave up a two-run walkoff homer in the 10th.
