Twins update

Twins pitchers took batting practice before Thursday's game, preparing to play six consecutive games in NL ballparks. That's three in Wrigley Field and three at Miller Park in Milwaukee. "Make the position players shag!" righthander Kyle Gibson said, noting that shagging fly balls is a ritual for a pitcher. … The Twins are 13-14 against the Cubs all-time, 4-8 at Wrigley Field. ... The Twins are making their first appearance at the Cubs' ballpark since 2009, when they nearly swept the three-games series but suffered a walk-off loss in the final game.

Cub update

The Cubs have injury issues, too. In addition to their efforts to get Yu Darvish back on the mound, they had to place third baseman Kris Bryant on the disabled list this week because of a sore shoulder. ... There's a decent contingent of former Twins with the Cubs. Lefthander Brian Duensing has revitalized his career as a reliever, backup catcher Chris Gimenez was recently called up from Class AAA Iowa, and lefty reliever Randy Rosario was claimed off waivers last season and could end up being the biggest Twins' loss of them all. Rosario has a mid-90s fastball and just needs experience to be a good fit in any bullpen. ... The Cubs completed a four-game series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers on Thursday and flew home late, hence the 4:05 p.m. start time on Friday.
