The Twins plan to call up two - just two - players from the minors for the September stretch.

Infielder Eduarado Escobar and righthander Luis Perdomo are on the way to Chicago to join the Twins for the rest of the season.

Rochester manager Gene Glynn, the pride of Waseca, Mn., is set to join the Twins on Friday for the rest of the season.

Escobar batted .217 in 35 games after being traded from Chicago to the Twins in the Francisco Liriano deal. Escobar is a very good defensive player who needs work offensively. With Alexi Casilla beginning to make more money, Escobar could be in the mix to be the utility player in 2013.

Perdomo was called up in late July. He has a good arm but is working on his command. He was 4-1 with a 2.43 ERA and seven saves at Rochester.

The Twins did not call up Brian Dozier. He was told he had to earn his way back but went on a long hitless skid (I think it was 0-for-19) once he got there. Dozier did homer today during Rochester's season-ending win over Syracuse.

The Twins did not call up Oswaldo Arcia of Aaron Hicks from Class AA New Britain, although Arcia had a very good season and Hicks did pretty well too.
