Hearing that Nick Blackburn won't pitch again this season. He can be moved to the 60-Day DL to make room on the 40-man for the callups we expect to hear about today. Stay tuned...

It;s official. Righthander Kyle Waldrop and utility player Brian Dinkleman will be called up in time for Mondays doubleheader against the White Sox. Waldrop started the season poorly but posted a 1.37 ERA in July and 2.63 ERA in August. Dinkleman was up briefly in June.

On Tuesday, righthander Liam Hendriks and infielder Matt Tolbert will join the team. Hendriks will make his major league debut on Tuesday against the White Sox. He's 4-4 with a 4.56 ERA in nine starts with the Red Wings. He's been really good when he's been on and really bad when he's off. He doesn't have any outstanding pitches, but the Twins like his intangibles. He throws strikes, isn't afraid to pitch inside, etc.

You know about Tolbert.

The Twins moved righthander Nick Blackburn to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Waldrop. They already at 39 spots on their 40-man and needed one more. Blackburn will be shut down for the rest of the season because of a lateral forearm strain. The Twins will have to make one more room to make room on the 40-man before Hendriks start on Tuesday.

TODAY'S GAME

The Twins have a chance to win their first series since July 14-17 when they took three of four from the Royals. The concern is the bullpen. If the Twins' bullpen gets worked over today, the team will be in bad shape heading into the day-night doubleheader on Monday.

Joe Mauer, after hitting in the batting cage before the game, is ready to go. Mauer missed the first two games of the series with an upper respiratory infection.

Finally, Torii Hunter says hello.
