The sneaker trend is off and running. Yes, the shoes most people wear to the gym (and to the grocery store and the post office and basically everywhere else) have now become the darlings of the fashion world. To show how this look works in real life, we've asked three sneaker-loving local style stars to show off their casual kicks.

Advice for styling sneakers? For me, the key is keeping the outfit graphic and high contrast. Let the sneakers be the hero!

What sneakers are on your wish list? Nike Roshe Run Hyperfuse Gold Trophys. They are totally sold out and only available if you have an extreme case of good luck.

Favorite sneaker-clad fashion icon? Cliché as it is, I am a huge Jenna Lyons fan. Her all-white and iridescent sneaker look from New York Fashion Week was perfect.

Yasmina Moore-Foster

Musician, 30

Advice for styling sneakers: When it comes to styling sneakers, I tend to rely on the color and shape of the shoe. These days I'm playing with neutral clothes with bright neon shoes. I'm also excited about high-tops. Probably too excited.

What sneakers are on your wish list? Jordans. Always. The Retro 1 in black and varsity red would make me very happy.

Favorite sneaker-clad fashion icon? My favorite sneaker-clad icons are Run DMC and Minneapolis rapper Sophia Eris.

Caroline Smith

Musician, 26

Advice for styling sneakers: My general rule of thumb is this: If I'm wearing a super dressy outfit, I wear super casual shoes and vice versa. So with sneaks, you can get away with a tight dress, or that foraged sequined top you didn't know when to wear.

What sneakers are on your wish list? Isabel Marant's Golden Goose sneakers. Just need a cool grand to own those puppies. I supplement their absence in my life with Supergas.

Favorite sneaker-clad fashion icon? Leandra Medine, aka Man Repeller. Also I'd like to take a second to commemorate that time when Carrie Bradshaw wore sneakers with an oversized chunky turtleneck.
