"I didn't have a chance to see it" is no longer a valid excuse for losing your office Oscar pool. Now you can see the nominees in almost every category and compare them side by side. The 2010 nominated shorts and animated films are currently running at the Lagoon. Friday through Sunday all five documentary feature contenders screen at the Woodbury 10. And the 10 best picture entries will run five at a time this Saturday and next 6 at the Arbor Lakes 16, Eden Prairie 18 and Rosedale 14. Doc fans will have a second chance to see three of the nominees at this weekend's Woodbury showcase. The agribusiness expose "Food, Inc." (Friday at 1, Saturday at 5 and Sunday at 3), the Burmese pro-democracy protest film"Burma VJ" (Friday at 3 and 9, Saturday at 3 and Sunday at 1) and the bombshell dolphin-slaughter feature "The Cove" (Friday at 5, Saturday at 1 and Sunday at 7 p.m.) are back for return engagements in the Twin Cities. "Which Way Home," documenting children illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexican border (Friday at 7, Saturday at 9 and Sunday at 5) and the portrait of Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg, "The Most Dangerous Man in America" ( Saturday at 7 p.m.) are local premieres. Admission for individual films is $6 or all five for $25, with free popcorn. The two-day best picture marathons start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. At the Eden Prairie 18 the lineup is "Avatar" (3D), 10:30; "Up" (2D), 1:45; " A Serious Man," 3:45; " Precious," 6:30; and "District 9" 8:45 p.m. Arbor Lakes 16 and Rosedale 14 present "Avatar" (3D), 10:30; "Up in the Air," 1:45; "Precious," 4, "The Blind Side," 6:45; "Inglourious Basterds," 9:15 p.m. Next Saturday, March 6, it's Eden Prairie 18 with "An Education," 10:30; "The Hurt Locker," 12:45, "Up in the Air," 3:25; "The Blind Side," 6 and "Inglourious Basterds," 8:30. p.m. Arbor Lakes 16 and Rosedale 14 show "Up" (2D), 10:30; "A Serious Man," 12:45; "The Hurt Locker," 2:45; "An Education," 6; and "District 9," 8 p.m. You can buy a two-day pass at the box office for $50, or a one-day ticket for $30. As with the documentary festival, a large popcorn and unlimited refills is included. It's like an all-u-can-eat buffet for movie gluttons. If someone only added a showing of the best foreign film nominees, we'd have a true iron butt triathlon.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
