Rounding up some random concert news from this week:

*U2 announced a 19-city transatlantic arena tour today for next summer, and the Twin Cities is not one of the stops. There's no hint of more dates to be added, but of course there's always that possibility, especially since it's an arena outing and not a stadium trek (and thus not limited by weather). In the meantime, though, Twin Cities fans may want to look at the other options, which include a June 24-25 stand at Chicago's United Center, plus 3-4-nighters in New York and Los Angeles.

*The local date is set for the 2015 Warped Tour: It'll land once again at Canterbury Park in Shakopee on July 26. Tickets go on sale next Friday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. via Ticketweb.com or at Down in the Valley outlets. The lineup for the 21st annual outing will be announced band-by-band every Wednesday starting later today.

*After he got lost driving himself to the Minnesota Zoo his last time in town and nearly missed the show, John Prine is returning to the more centrally located Orpheum Theatre next year. The Nashville-based songwriting legend will be there April 11. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. for $49.50 and $59.50 via Ticketmaster or the State Theatre box office. He is also returning to Duluth a day earlier, April 11, to play the DECC Symphony Hall (also on sale Friday). South Carolina duo Shovels & Rope will open both shows.

*The Dakota just announced a string of shows that should help keep things warm in January. Grammy-winning singer Diane Reeves, who headlined one night of the Twin Cities Jazz Festival this past summer, will do four shows in two nights, Jan. 27-28. Another prominent jazz act, the Chris Potter Quartet, has lined up two shows there on Jan. 25. And locally beloved singer/songwriter-turned-producer Joe Henry will return for another intimate gig on Jan. 16 (click here to read about Henry's stellar 2013 set there). Info on all the shows is up at the Dakota site.
