Q: I was wondering if the show "Cedar Cove" will return anytime soon.

A: The drama inspired by Debbie Macomber's novels begins its third season on Hallmark on July 18. Andie MacDowell continues to star.

What's up with Burt Ward?

Q: After the "Batman" TV series went off the air in the '60s, did Burt Ward ever act again?

A: Ward, who was Robin to Adam West's Batman, has quite a few credits after the 1968 cancellation of "Batman." Although credits may not be the right word for productions called "Beach Babes From Beyond," "Assault of the Party Nerds: The Heavy Petting Detective" and "Virgin High." He also wrote a memoir, "Boy Wonder: My Life in Tights," about 20 years ago.

By the way, the A.V. Club reported that Ward and West will reprise their roles (at least vocally) in an animated production due in 2016, which will be the TV show's 50th anniversary.

A 'Star Trek' original

Q: In "The Menagerie," a two-part episode on the original "Star Trek," was that really Jeffrey Hunter playing the injured Captain Pike?

A: Fans of the fantasy series know that scenes from an early "Star Trek" pilot titled "The Cage" were later incorporated into the "Menagerie" story. "The Cage" had the Enterprise commanded by Christopher Pike, played by Jeffrey Hunter. When a second pilot was asked for, Hunter was not a part of it.

Enter Captain James T. Kirk, played by William Shatner. In "The Menagerie," Pike is played by two actors: Sean Kenney was a badly injured Pike, and Hunter was in flashbacks taken from "The Cage."

No more 'Covert Affairs'

Q: Is "Covert Affairs" coming back for a sixth season?

A: The series starring Piper Perabo is done for now. The issue, as Deadline.com reported, was money: "As is the case with older series, its production costs have gone up over the years. In addition to rising talent fees, the series also went bigger on locations, from the clunky green screen shots in the first couple of seasons to filming around the world in recent years."
