The Chase is on

The launch of Stephen Colbert's CBS show has us giggling — for all the wrong reasons — about Chevy Chase's ill-fated attempt at late night TV. Let's make up for our dated snickering by remembering the former "Saturday Night Live" star at his best by watching "Fletch" (7 p.m. AMC) or "Caddyshack" (7 p.m. Esquire).

Happily ever after

"Married" may focus on a bickering couple, but deep down you're always aware that Russ (Nat Faxon) and Lina (Judy Greer) are mad about each other, an impressive trick in this age of cynical romantic comedies. Jenny Slate continues to impress as the ultimate woman-child. 9:30 p.m. FX.

The sheriff's back in town

"Longmire" is the latest series to get second life through a streaming service — and the resurrection is well-deserved. The quasi-western about a resilient small-town sheriff had a meager but dedicated audience during its three-season run on A&E. Ten new episodes, all available immediately, should appease fans like me who are eager for more adventures on the not-so-quiet western front. Now streaming on Netflix.
