TV picks for Oct. 23: "Project Runway," "The Shatner Project," "Surgeon Oz"

Clothes call

For the Season 13 finale of "Project Runway" (8 p.m. Lifetime), the remaining designers must present during New York Fashion Week with guest judge Emmy Rossum looking on. That's followed by a new spinoff, "Project Runway: Threads" (9:30 p.m. Lifetime), in which teen and tween designers square off. No running with scissors!

The new frontier

William Shatner boldly goes where no "Star Trek" veteran has gone before in "The Shatner Project," a limited series that follows him and a crew as they remodel his 1970s-style California home. The show starts in the kitchen and will slowly get around to adding new wallpaper to the transporter room. 9 p.m. DIY

Doctor, doctor

He doesn't just play a doctor on TV. In the new series, "Surgeon Oz," Mehmet Oz takes us on rounds at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. That will soon be followed by "Dermatologist Phil," in which that other well-known TV doctor shows off his previously untapped knowledge of skin problems. 9 p.m. OWN
