Nick of time

Nick Nolte, who has been counted out more times than Ralph Nader, proves there's still fire in his belly as a regretful ex-president in "Graves," a series that has less to do with politics than with reflecting on an unfulfilled life. Graves' Quixote-like quest to rectify past mistakes rarely rings true — hard to think a former prez could slip into a diner without causing a ruckus — but anyone approaching their senior years will relate to the character's desire for a do-over. Texas injustice

"Southwest of Salem: The Story of the San Antonio Four," a darling on the film festival circuit, makes its TV premiere, offering a wider audience the chance to check out a documentary that strongly suggests four gay Latinas were railroaded for the alleged abuse of two young girls. Director Deborah S. Esquenazi wisely lets the accused do most of the talking as she and her subjects build a strong case against a system that can still be poisoned by paranoia and homophobia.

It's Greek to me

Keely Hawes ("Upstairs Downstairs") shines as a exasperated widow and mother of impossibly bratty kids trying to reignite her passions in 1930s Greece in "The Durrells in Corfu." This engaging "Masterpiece" miniseries, based on Gerald Durrell's bestselling books, is tailor-made for those who like their drama and humor on the lighter side.
