All apologies

You don't have to be a fan of Nirvana to be touched by "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck," the first fully authorized documentary of the band's frontman. Brett Morgen, who helmed documentaries on the Rolling Stones and Robert Evans, uses a variety of storytelling devices to present a three-dimensional figure, largely misunderstood by the public. One glaring omission is the lack of commentary from bandmate Dave Grohl. Morgen said that Grohl was interviewed but that he decided the film was running too long to include the drummer's thoughts. Strange, since Morgen does make time for numerous shots of Courtney Love's bare breasts. 8 p.m. Monday, HBO

In the meantime, Jess and Nick appear to be back playing will-they-or-won't-they? 8 p.m. Tuesday, KMSP, Ch. 9
