Stretching the truth

Netflix seems bent on tackling every genre, and that includes interactive storytelling for kids. Its latest choose-your-adventure comes in a Silly Putty container called "Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout" with breaks throughout the tale for viewers to decide what happens to our nonconforming hero. The streaming service previously experimented with the format in "Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale" and an episode of "Buddy Thunderstruck."

Mud in your eye

"Tough Mudder: Tougher Together" offers a fresh look at athletes who scoff at so-called amazing races. The three teams tackling this 10-mile, 23-obstacle course are just as formidable as TV's more famous Ninja warriors, with back stories that are further explored in five digital episodes available for streaming on CW's Seed.

Ghost ship

Go ahead and pretend that you saw "The Shape of Water." We'll pretend to believe you. The idea that the best-picture Oscar would go to the year's biggest blockbuster all but sank after 1997's "Titanic" dominated both the box office and the Academy Awards. The film doesn't hold up all that well, but it's fun to catch Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio just as they were becoming Kings of the World.
