Still defying gravity

Even if you don't know star Dove Cameron from Cameron Diaz, you may get a kick out of counting the musical influences on display in "Descendants 2," which pays homage to "Grease," "Wicked," "Peter Pan" and "Frozen" without a whiff of shame. Director Kenny Ortega may not have another "High School Musical" on his hands, but the songs are more than catchy enough to justify this sequel to the 2015 original.

Know thy neighbor

Fans of FX's "The Americans" may want to sneak a peek at the season premiere of "Declassified: Untold Stories of American Spies," which shows that Russians continued to infiltrate U.S. neighborhoods long after the Reagan era. Former CIA director and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is almost giddy as he looks back at a real-life chapter from the spy vs. spy dossier.

All in the family

During the leaner years, Minnesota's Louie Anderson spent a short stint as a game-show host. He revisits his old stamping grounds when he and family members compete against Christina Milian's clan on "Celebrity Family Feud."

7 p.m. Sunday, KSTP, Ch. 5

Escape artist

"Insecure," which returns for a second season, has been acknowledged as a touchstone for representing life and love among under-represented members of the black community. Rightly so, but star/creator Issa Rae also reminds me of Rachel Bloom's character in "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" in the way they try to find an escape hatch from reality. It's a shame that neither made the recent Emmy slate of comedy's best actresses.
