Horse play

Maybe you read the children's novel or saw the touring Broadway musical last month at the Orpheum Theatre. See Steven Spielberg's 2011 film interpretation of "War Horse" (5:30 p.m., Showtime), the story of a boy and two horses that are trained for the military and deployed in France in World War I.

Go West

It's the patriotic duty of every Minnesotan to visit the Black Hills. If you can't make it this summer, tune in to "Mount Rushmore: American Experience" (8 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2) to hear how sculptor Gutzon Borglum immortalized the fab four — George, Tom, Teddy and Abe.

Cub reporter

The main investigation on "Rizzoli & Isles" (8 p.m., TNT) is the murder of an aggressive journalism student. And, of course, there's drama in the process as Jane Rizzoli gets upset when an ex-colleague returns to the Boston force as a lieutenant with the drug unit while Dr. Maura Isles receives a shocking tip.
