Going to the dogs

The Westminister Dog Show has now concluded, which makes it the perfect time to revisit Christopher Guest's spot-on parody, "Best in Show," a mostly improvised movie that gave significant career boosts to Jennifer Coolidge, Jane Lynch and Fred Willard. Watch it with your puppy. 7 p.m., WUCW, Ch. 23

Hitting the roof

PBS has Sherlock Holmes on the payroll, but it's opted to employ historians and engineers to help solve "The Great Cathedral Mystery," a "Nova" special about the dome that crowns Florence's great Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore, better known as the Duomo, one of the greatest architectural marvels in history. 8 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2

Ladies night

It took a while, but women are finally on equal footing on "Saturday Night Live." Celebrate their long struggle with Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Laraine Newman and others in the 2010 repeat of "The Women of SNL," a great collection of sketches and salutes. 9 p.m., VH1 Neal Justin
