Cutting wit "Kathy Griffin: She'll Cut a Bitch" (8 p.m., Bravo) offers up cable's omnipresent mascot to take another swipe at relatives and celebrities. Even if her Cher impression leaves you cold, you can't help but be sucked in by her behind-the-scenes stories. Better than a month's subscription to the Enquirer. "The A-List Awards" (9 p.m., Bravo) follows with host ... Kathy Griffin.

Detective of the traveling pants The new police drama "Southland" is getting a lot of attention, but I much prefer TV's other new cop offering, "The Unusuals" (9:02 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5), which benefits from its layers of dark comedy and the unlikely casting of Amber Tamblyn (right), who plays a new homicide detective forced to investigate her eccentric partner. I'm rooting for this one.

Gotta dance There are two new books out about the life and steps of Fred Astaire ("Puttin' on the Ritz," "Fred Astaire"), but, seriously, who has time to read? You can learn an awful lot just by rewatching twinkle toes and Ginger Rogers in 1936's "Swing Time" (9 p.m., TCM). Get ready to float on air when Astaire warbles "The Way You Look Tonight."
