Bird brain

"Jungle Eagle" (7 p.m. KTCA, Ch. 2), a new edition of "Nature," looks at one of the most powerful -- and scary --birds to ever soar across the sky (I saw one in person this past summer and almost spit up my designer water). Filmmaker Fergus Beeley went to Venezuela to track the majestic creature. Better him than me.

Thank god, he's a country boy

Brad Paisley might be in for a busy night. He's co-hosting the "45th Annual CMA Awards" (7 p.m. KSTP, Ch. 5), along with Carrie Underwood, and he's nominated for five prizes. Taylor Swift and Blake Shelton are among the performers during this live telecast from Nashville.

Ice, ice baby

"Coast Guard Alaska" (8 p.m. Weather), a seven-part series made by Al Roker's production company, looks at a team based in Kodiak, Alaska, that has ice water in their veins. Literally. The training sessions are so chilly, you might want to watch while wearing a parka.
