It was a bird, it was a plane

Kryptonite isn't the only thing that can kill Superman. After 10 seasons, "Smallville" (7 p.m. Friday, WUCW, Ch. 29) flies into the sunset with a two-hour finale that includes a wedding and the return of Lex Luther. "Smallville" was never a critical smash, but it respectably honored a great superhero, and star Tom Welling appears to have a solid future on both sides of the camera.

Oh, Jackie! Before Dakota Fanning, before Macaulay Culkin, there was Jackie Cooper, one of Hollywood's more beloved child actors. Cooper, who died this month, is celebrated in a daylong festival, which includes a rip-roaring version of 1934's "Treasure Island" (3:30 p.m. Friday, TCM) and the tearjerker of all tearjerkers, 1931's "The Champ" (5:30 p.m. Friday, TCM).

What a croc Come on in, guys. The water's fine -- even though it's filled with pythons and wildcats. "Swamp Brothers" (9 p.m. Friday, Discovery) is the latest reality series to showcase folks who run toward dangerous critters. In the first episode, Robbie and Stephen Keszey face an aggressive mama gator who's convinced the brothers are trying to steal her eggs to make an omelet.

Eight is more than enough And then there were ... eight? In an effort to shake things up, this season of "Survivor: Redemption Island" (7 p.m. Sunday, WCCO, Ch. 4) has given those eliminated so many second chances that nearly half of the original 18 contestants still have a shot at victory in this two-hour season finale. It's followed by a one-hour live reunion show, which will almost certainly be dominated by crazy-like-a-rabid-fox Russell Hantz.
