Ryan's hope Ryan Gosling has built a reputation as an ultra-serious actor, but he also makes a heck of a romantic lead in 2004's "The Notebook" (8 p.m. Saturday, WCCO, Ch. 4), a four-handkerchief tearjerker that also features Gena Rowlands, James Garner and the radiant Rachel McAdams.

Fame and misfortune The laughs in "Extras: The Extra Special Series Finale" (8 p.m. Sunday, HBO) aren't nearly as uproarious as they were throughout the show's two short seasons. Instead, creator Ricky Gervais spends a lot of time preaching about the evils of show business, most notably in a "Big Brother" moment where our hero loses it amongst a family of C-level stars. While it's not nearly as gratifying as the conclusion of "The Office," it more than satisfies, thanks in large part to comedy relief provided by none other than George Michael, who gives a wham-bam performance as a public-park pervert. For more on Gervais, see Sunday's A&E section.
