SundayGary Busey, La Toya Jackson, Dionne Warwick and Jose Canseco are among the hotheads blowing steam in a promising new season of "The Celebrity Apprentice" (8 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11). If you have a hard time figuring out who to root for, consider Oscar winner Marlee Matlin. Not only is she one of the coolest customers on the show, but she's also raising money for Twin Cities-based Starkey Hearing Foundation.

MondayWill the return of "The Event" (7 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11) actually be an event? Will viewers flock back to the sci-fi mystery after such a long break? Better shows have suffered from an early hiatus, but this fast-paced drama has a shot at second life thanks to a plot that involves possible takeover of the world by aliens that may or may not be closely related to the creatures on ABC's "V."

Tuesday"Kenny Rogers: The First 50 Years" (7:30 p.m., GAC) features a parade of testimonials from Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Sheena Easton, Smokey Robinson, Tim McGraw, the Gambler, the Coward of the County, some girl who took her love to town and a coop full of chickens that are favorites at his fast-food chain.

WednesdayIt's a tragedy that the Academy didn't nominate 2010's "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work" (7 p.m., TMC). One, it's a searing documentary that's at once hilarious and insightful, especially when the workaholic comic hits the road. Two, the sleepy ceremonies could have used Rivers at the festivities. If she would have won, she probably would have slapped James Franco awake on her way to the podium.

ThursdayBilly Joel hasn't issued an album of fresh pop songs in 18 years, but he's not opposed to occasionally trotting out the old hits and tearing into them like he just conjured them up last week. "Billy Joel: Live at Shea Stadium" (9 p.m., KTCA, Ch. 2), taped in 2008 as part of the farewell to the old baseball field, has everything die-hard fans would want, including guest appearances from Tony Bennett ("New York State of Mind"), Garth Brooks ("Shameless") and Paul McCartney ("I Saw Her Standing There" and "Let It Be").
