Perhaps even more so than trade talk, a great win or even a playoff push, nothing gets the chatter amongst sports fans going quite like new uniforms for the home team.

Huh?

No, really. We are convinced that there are few things fans enjoy bantering about and critiquing more than the clothes that their favorite athletes wear on the field. While we might not be quite as fanatical as others, count us squarely in the camp that was intensely interested in what the updated Twins uniforms would look like. And, we have to say, count us among the impressed.

While retro can be overdone, there is absolutely not a thing wrong with those home throwback uniforms (Denard Span modeling) that pay homage to the 1961 season and the upcoming 50th year of Twins baseball. Indeed, Span even said he would like to wear those full-time instead of just on special occasions (opening day and home Saturdays is apparently the plan). The road grays are an upgrade as well.

We're not joking, either, when we say this was an important thing for the Twins to nail. Bad uniforms in the first year of a new ballpark would have hampered merchandise sales and put many fans in an unnecessarily foul mood every time they thought too hard about it.

Unless, of course, you're in the camp that doesn't like the new threads. Either way, we welcome your thoughts in the comments.
