In a boys' hockey matchup of top 10 teams in Class 1A, No. 5 Orono won 2-1 against No. 6 Mound Westonka.

With less than two minutes left in regulation, Billy Lynch set up Jack Suchy for the game-winning goal.

Orono (7-4-1) trailed the White Hawks (11-2-1) heading into the third period before Nick Gherardi scored off an assist from Daniel Eckerline.

Evan Babekuhl made 25 saves for Orono.

Jack LaTour had Mound Westonka's lone goal in the first period with Torsten Lee getting the assist.

Apple Valley 5, Burnsville 4 (OT): Hunter DeWall scored his second goal of the game for the Eagles midway through the extra Parker Jamison also had two goals for the Eagles. Nick Willmert had two goals and an assist for the Blaze. Burnsville outshot Apple Valley 41-20.

Eastview 4, Lakeville South 3 (OT): Chris Fan scored his second goal of the game in overtime to give the Lighting the win over the Cougars. Zach Anderson and Joey Stillings also scored for Eastview. Jack Olsen and Zachary Zemlak both had a goal and an assist for Lakeville South.

Benilde-St. Margaret's 7, Chanhassen 2: Nate Schweitzer's hat trick led the Red Knights past the Storm. Dylan Hoen added two goals and an assist. Preston Willier had a goal and an assist for Chanhassen.

Armstrong/Cooper 8, Osseo 1: Senior Jack Goergen had a hat trick and two assists to lead the Wings past the Orioles. Goergen also had a hat trick in this season's previous matchup against Osseo.

Girls' hockey

Holy Family/Waconia 5, Hutchinson 3: The Wildfire trailed 1-2 entering the third period before outscoring the Tigers 4-1 in the final frame. Molly Garin led the effort with two goals in the third while Sadie Long and Bridget Orr had one apiece. Alex Hantge led Hutchinson with a goal and two assists.

Red Wing 1, Faribault 0: The Wingers' Tyler McGrath earned the shutout with 33 saves. Camryn Salmonsen made 40 saves for the Falcons. Kendal Swanson scored the game's only goal on a power play in the second period.

Hill-Murray 5, Lakeville North 0: Ava Bailey made 26 saves to earn the shutout for the Pioneers. Haylee Blinkhorn and Abigail Boreen both scored twice and had two assists to lead Hill-Murray's offense.

Boys' basketball

Mahtomedi 87, St. Thomas Academy 63: The Zephyrs, ranked No. 10 in Class 3A, upset the No. 3 Cadets. Karmoga Lero scored 28 points for Mahtomedi. J'Vonne Hadley added 18. Gram O'Malley scored 13 points for St. Thomas Academy.

Chaska 84, Delano 83: Calvin Wishart scored 43 points to lead the Tigers, No. 9 in Class 3A, back from an 18-point deficit against the Hawks but they still lost to the eighth-ranked team in Class 4A. This was Wishart's third game this season scoring over 40. Cole Nicholson had 32 points to lead Chaska. Parker Bjorklund added 23 for the Hawks.

Hopkins 94, Orono 86: Anthony Davis led the Royals, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, with 26 points. Blaise Beauchamp added 19. Colton Codute led the Spartans with 23 points and 11 assists while Jarvis Omersa had 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Girls' basketball

Minneapolis Southwest 69, Minneapolis Roosevelt 32: Olivia Youngdahl led the Lakers with 21 points and 20 rebounds. Jamelia Wright had 17 points for the Teddies.

Chanhassen 53, Benilde-St. Margaret's 46: Anna Lilienthal had a game-high 22 points for the Red Knights, but it wasn't enough to beat the Storm. Sidney Brastad and Tori Tollefson led Chanhassen with 13 points each.
