Simon Wright scored 27 points and Darryl Mayfield made a trio of timely three-pointers in the second half to help Class 4A, No. 6 Hopkins hold on for a 95-92 win over visiting Class 1A, No. 1 Minneapolis North in boys' basketball Tuesday night.

Wright carried the Royals in the first half, scoring 15 of the team's first 17 points and finished the half with 22.

Isaac Johnson and Odell Wilson IV carried the Polars with 33 and 30 points, respectively. Johnson had the last chance for the Polars, but couldn't get his shot to fall at the buzzer.

Ishmael El-Amin tallied 15 points and 11 assists for Hopkins.

Chaska 82, Bloomington Kennedy 44: Myles Hanson became the all-time leading scorer for Chaska with 1,881 points, surpassing Spencer Tollackson. He finished the game with 24 points to lead the Hawks past the Eagles. Markel Aune led the Eagles with 22 points.

Apple Valley 82, Eagan 64: Tre Jones scored 34 points to lead the Class 4A, No. 3 Eagles to their fifth consecutive South Suburban Conference title with the victory over the Wildcats. Luke Martens had 21 points for the Eagles. Darby Sorensen led the Wildcats with 22 points and Jaylen James had 16.

Lakeville South 71, Shakopee 70: Jack Sorenson scored 32 points to lead the Cougars past the Irish. Jacob Adelman scored 20 points to lead the Sabers and Charles Katona had 17 points.

New Prague 60, Holy Family 39: The Class 4A, No. 9 Trojans hounded the Fire, rendering the home team scoreless for more than 15 minutes. The Fire went scoreless from 9:00 remaining in the first half until 11:25 of the second. Jacob Milinkovich scored 19 points to lead the Trojans.

Boys' hockey

Delano 5, Blake 2: The top-seeded Tigers seized an early lead and held on through periods of undisciplined play and uncharacteristic breakdowns to defeat the Bears in the Class 1A, Section 2 semifinals at Parade Ice Garden. Ross Oja, who entered the game with one goal this season, and Ben Meyers had two goals each and Gabe Halonen had a goal for the Tigers. Sasha Shogren scored both goals for the Bears.

Breck 6, Minneapolis 1: Carter Breitenfeldt scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Mustangs past Minneapolis in the other Class 1A, Section 2 semifinal at Parade Ice Garden. Mitch Machlitt had a goal and two assists, Nick Strom had a goal and an assist and Dalton Weigel had two assists for the Mustangs. Preston Holt stopped 27 shots and Huck Sorock scored a goal for Minneapolis.

Stillwater 5, Woodbury 1: The Ponies scored three goals in a 1:37 span in the second period to break the game open. Luke Manning, Adam Eisele and Mason Bartosh scored for the Ponies. Ben Wahlin got the Royals on the board in the third period. Austin Murr scored twice for the Ponies.

Girls' basketball

St. Michael-Albertville 69, Brainerd 62: Rae Johnson scored 32 points to lead the Class 4A, No. 4 Knights past the Warriors. Kylee Heurung led the Warriors with 27.
