Their first dance at an inaugural ball featured President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump swaying to the song "My Way," a hit for Frank Sinatra. At one point at the Liberty Ball, the new chief executive was singing — or mouthing — the words. After a few verses, Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, joined the moment, followed by the Trumps' and Pences' adult children and their spouses. Before the dance, Trump told the audience that "people that weren't so nice to me were saying that we did a really good job today." He added, "It's like God was looking down on us." At the second of three balls, dubbed the Freedom Ball, the new president said, "We are going to do things. We will not be taken advantage of any more." He asked the crowd if he should "keep the Twitter going." They cheered their approval. Reminiscing about his campaign, Trump said, "I really felt, that last week in particular, how are we going to lose?" Now, he said, "The fun begins. … I will be fighting every single day for you." Their first dance at the second ball was also to "My Way." The Liberty and Freedom balls were at the Washington Convention Center. A third, the Salute to our Armed Services Ball, was at the National Building Museum. While waiting for the Trumps' arrival at the first ball, performances began without them. Chrisette Michele and Travis Greene, backed by the Abundant Life choir, sang Greene's gospel tune, "Intentional." At its conclusion, Green said, "Somebody make noise for Jesus. God bless America."
