Tropical Cyclone Fami, a storm with significant flooding potential, has madelandfall upon southwestern Madagascar as of Tuesday morning, EST.Landfall happened early in the morning, EST, between Morondava and Morombe. Atthe time, Fami was a moderate tropical storm with highest sustained windsreckoned to be near 40 mph, or 65 kph.

Following landfall, Fami weakened to a tropical depression trackingeast-southeastward over hilly landscape in southern Madagascar.

While Fami did not unleash any widespread damaging winds, it did spark rainfallheavy enough for flash flooding.

The threat of flash flooding along and near the path of Fami will last throughmidweek. Then, on Thursday, the center of Fami will shift back out to sea eastof southern Madagascar.
