Terry Peltier of East Bethel with a monster largemouth bass caught on Woman Lake with a leech, hook and bobber rig. "I was pretty excited; I didn't have a scale, and [I] estimate the length at 22 to 24 inches,'' Peltier said.

Going home on a high note

Every year we go up to Lake of the Woods for fishing opener. This year we went up a week later, just hoping we would come home with our limit of walleyes. In the three days we were up north, we put in about 10 hours of fishing a day. Little did we know that the last couple of hours of fishing would be the most memorable of the trip. Within those hours my sister, Makayla, caught a 22-inch walleye; my brother, Maxx, caught a 29.5-inch walleye; my dad Brian, caught a 30-inch walleye; and I caught a 28.5-inch walleye. We had a blast, and to end the trip right, we came home with our limit and lots of pictures to show mom! What a great family trip!

Rock Solid

Drew Casey, 11, of Eden Prairie caught this 20-inch smallmouth bass on Ten Mile Lake in Hackensack. "It was windy, and we were trying to catch walleyes without much luck,'' he said. "It was nice and quiet by some rocks in shallow water, and I was using a jig and leech. After a couple of casts, the smalley hit the leech.''
