Adam Levine wears Harley Davidson, moves like Jagger, with guitarist James Valentine

Train's been on a long haul. On tour for three years with two weeks to go. Maroon 5 has been along for part of the trek.

As my review explained, the two groups alternate in the headline slot. What's hard to explain is why they do such a disappointing job with live video.

There were camera operators providing live action shots on the two State Fair grandstand screens on either side of the stage Monday. But there were precious few live shots on the giant screen behind the stage. Instead of closeups of Maroon 5's Adam Levine and Train's Pat Monahan, we got color-TV test patterns, artsy explosions of colors, songs lyrics, album covers, band logos, etc. Go figure.

It was cool to see a sell-out grandstand crowd of 13,226 on closing night of the fair. It was the third sell-out this year; the others were Def Leppard/Heart and Toby Keith. Last year, there were four sellouts — Rush, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and Kiss.

Here are the set lists from Monday:

Maroon 5: Moves Like Jagger/ Harder To Breathe/ Sunday Morning/ If I Never See Your Face Again/ Misery/ Makes Me Wonder/ The Sun/ I Won't Go Home Without You / Never Gonna Leave/ Wake Up Call/ Stutter/ This Love ENCORE Hands All Over/ She Will Be Loved

Train: Parachute/ If It's Love/ Meet Virginia/ Calling All Angels/ Heart of Glass (Blondie) > Still Havent Found What I'm Looking For (U2)/ Umbrella (Rihanna)/ Save Me, San Francisco/ Marry Me/ Hey, Soul Sister ENCORE Words/ Drops of Jupiter/ This Ain't Goodbye
