It's not too late to obsess about all the trade deadline rumors involving the Twins! If you're looking for a quick rundown, here is the latest. The hottest rumors, oddly enough, involved Justin Morneau. Jon Heyman reported yesterday that multiple teams, including the Dodger, Giants and Blue Jays, have interest in Morneau. (The Dodgers have been the team most consistently rumored to be interested.) And as pointed out on Twins Daily yesterday, Morneau might be an even better candidate to be moved after the deadline, when players are often put on waivers. Last year, rumors swirled about the imminent departure of Denard Span. He's been mostly missing from the rumor mill this year, however the Reds are reportedly very interested in acquiring a leadoff hitter and have kicked the tires on Span. Lots of teams have talked about how they would like to acquire Josh Willingham, but it doesn't appear any deal is close as the Twins would require a king's ransom. An interesting twist was reported yesterday. The Mariners, another "selling" team, could be interested in Willingham for next year and have plenty of young pitching to offer. Finally, there are other possible deals that appear less likely, like trading away a high-value reliever like Glen Perkins or Jared Burton.
