Trade deadline pass quietly for Wolves

Wolves make no other deals other than Wednesday's Cardinal-Darko trade

The NBA's 2 p.m. trade deadline has come and gone for the Wolves with no action other than last night's Brian Cardinal-for-Darko Milicic deal.

Said David Kahn: "There were calls, as there always are. There was interest. But I wouldn't say we were ever on the brink of doing anything."

Interesting late move just before the deadline: Utah dealt swingman Ronnie Brewer to Memphis for a pick.

That would seem to make it even more likely that the cost-conscious Grizzlies won't match a rich offer made for restricted free agent Rudy Gay this summer.

Lots of teams are going to have money to spend come July 1 now that so many more -- Washington, Sacramento, the Clippers among them -- have cleared cap space here at the trade deadline.

Somebody's going to make Gay a rich man.

Will it be the Wolves?

Probably not, but he's about as high as the Wolves realistically could aim in free agency this summer.
