Gophers coach Tracy Claeys said Sunday that he's confident second-leading rusher Shannon Brooks will be ready to return from his unspecified injury in time for Saturday's game at Nebraska.

"Now, I was confident we'd have him last week, too," Claeys said. "It surprised me how long it took, but yeah, I do I feel pretty good. It's nothing serious. We just couldn't get him up to full speed. He didn't feel good running up to full speed, so we didn't take a chance."

Rodney Smith shook off a right ankle injury against Purdue and rushed 24 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns.

Asked if Smith's ankle injury was a lingering concern, Claeys said, "Not with the way he finished the game. Now, I haven't talked to the trainers or anybody yet, but by the way he finished the game, I don't think it's too big of a concern."
