Woman on the verge
Any woman who has been told she can have it all — even after the deadbeat dad has skipped town — will rally around Sam Fox in “Better Things,” the new series co-created by Louis C.K. and Pamela Adlon, who previously played his unattainable love interest in that terrific series. As Fox, Adlon gives a bawdy and bewildering performance, a shining example of how TV continues to do a better job than film in delivering multilayered roles for women.
