Rising star

Seeso, NBC's ad-free streaming comedy service, believes strongly in Carmen Esposito, whose stand-up special, "Marriage Material," shows why she's the darling of the gay-and-lesbian club circuit — and beyond. In addition to the two-hour performance, directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, Esposito will star in a Seeso sitcom later this year.

Catch up

Shonda Rhimes doesn't have a perfect track record ("Off the Map," anyone?), but don't bet against "The Catch," the latest from her production company, in which a private investigator (Mireille Enos, Emmy-nominated for her role in "The Killing") gets ripped off by her fiancé. That baddie is played by Minnesotan Peter Krause, who has a good record of his own, thanks to the success of "Six Feet Under" and "Parenthood."

Raising the bar

"Sisters in Law" follows the personal and professional trials of eight black attorneys in Houston trying to maintain their stellar reputations and friendships in a predominantly white, male profession. The WE network has also signed off on "Ladies of Law," a similarly themed docuseries, to premiere later this year.
