The new season of four episodes looks at how English celebrities (Catherine Tate, David Tennant) handle Christmas, school and friendship.

Lab work

Efforts to get preteens hooked on robotics have rarely been as much fun as "Annedroids," the series in which a loyal band of youngsters build walking, talking machines while facing ferocious obstacles like nosy parents and homework. The action and acting are over the top, but the intent — to persuade children that becoming a scientist is as noble as someday playing for the NBA — is sincere and probably effective. The only misstep: using the theme for "Weird Science" over the closing credits. Let's hope curious kids don't check out the grown-up comedy before their time. Season 3 is now streaming.

Whichever way the wind blows

"How to Let Go of the World and Love All the Things Climate Can't Change" has an exhausting name, but an even more breathless subject matter. Director Josh Fox ("Gasland") travels to six continents in search of the great aspect of humankind that can withstand the most severe results of climate change. Expect this long-titled documentary to be on the shortlist come awards season.
