At some point, one of the comics being showcased on NBC's streaming service Seeso is going to break big. Could it be Morgan Waters? The Canadian comedian gives it a shot with "The Amazing Gayl Pile," playing a man driven to become TV's No. 1 pitchman.

Let 'er rip

Sure, every British crime drama looks like it was filmed on the same grimy streets, but most of them are good bloody fun. The new season of "Ripper Street" finds our hero Edmund Reid (Matthew Macfadyen) returning to Whitechapel in 1897 to discover that an old friend is scheduled to be hanged for murder. Meanwhile, Inspector Bennet Drake (Jerome Flynn) has been promoted. Maybe he can finally do something about the haphazard nature of the garbage pickup.

Cruel to be kind

"Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle" gives 16 insult comics a chance to spew against one another in a four-day festival hosted by the king of the putdowns. Jimmy Kimmel, David Spade and Sarah Silverman are among the celebrity victims — er, judges. The contest concludes Sunday at Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival.
