The nation's most coveted prep wrestler, Mark Hall of Apple Valley, has been counting down the days of his college decision on his Twitter account.

The countdown hit zero Wednesday afternoon when the senior selected Penn State as his collegiate destination.

Hall made his announcement in front of a gathering in the high school's theater. Minnesota was among his five finalists.

The Eagles sensation has won five consecutive Class 3A individual state titles, and has his sights set on becoming the first wrestler in state history to extend that streak to six this winter. The 170-pounder has gone unbeaten in each of the past two seasons, and been ranked No. 1 nationally (all weight classes) by InterMat Wrestling and was named the American Family Insurance All-USA Wrestler of the Year this past spring.

A year ago Hall became only the fifth wrestler to win five consecutive state championships. The others wer Eric and Zach Sanders of Wabasha-Kellogg, Matt Nagel of Frazee, and Cameron Sykora of Border West.

His former teammate, Destin McCauley, also won five individual state championships, but they weren't in succession.

Hall won his first state championship as a 130-pounder in seventh grade. He also won state titles at 145 and 152 pounds before moving up to his current weight class the past two seasons.

Hall owns a career record of 229-4.
