JUPITER, FLA. – Oswaldo Arcia has reshaped his body and his swing. His fitness has shown, as he has made a few nice running catches in the outfield during spring training games.

His swing had not showed up until Thursday, when it did in a big way.

Arcia clobbered two home runs during the Twins' 8-4 victory over Miami. Arcia, who is out of minor league options and was batting .188 with no home runs and one RBI in Grapefruit League play before Thursday, is trying to win a roster spot as a reserve outfielder and occasional designated hitter.

The 24-year-old Venezuelan put the Twins up 1-0 in the second inning with a solo home run off Adam Conley. Arcia later added a two-run homer off Chaska native Brad Hand.

Both home runs were to the opposite field. Both were off lefthanded pitchers. Six of his 36 career homers in the majors have come off lefties. Five of them have been to left or left-center.

But this is what happens when you spend most of the season at Class AAA Rochester and bat .199. Adjustments are made.

Arcia spent most of the offseason in Fort Myers to get in shape and has been working on going with the pitch more and having a level swing.

"That's what I've been working for in BP, trying to stay the other way," Arcia said through an interpreter. "That's what happened in the game. It's a good feeling."

Danny Santana was 2-for-4 with a bunt single and two-run triple. Byung Ho Park added an RBI double. Tommy Milone gave up two runs over six innings and has a 2.40 ERA in camp.
