A tip from a southern Minnesota trucking company, concerned about a veteran driving team that hadn't shown up, led San Antonio police Thursday to three people fatally shot in a home in what authorities suspect is a double murder-suicide.

The identities of the three and their relationship to one another have yet to be released, but police in San Antonio and New Ulm said the three are from Texas and had not been accounted for since March 9.

A police report identifies them as a 76-year-old man, a 67-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man. The report characterizes the older man as a suspect and the other two as victims.

Police identified the company as J&R Schugel. Company human resources director Leah Shaver said that the two-person driving team had been working on a contract basis for J&R Schugel for "well more than a decade."

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus told reporters outside the home, "It's not a fresh scene. They've been there for a while."

According to San Antonio police, officers who arrived at the home on the west side of town about 8 a.m. reported hearing a television and finding the house locked. The officers then looked in a window and saw the 76-year-old man dead in a chair and facing the television. He had been shot in the face.

Police forced their way into the home and found the younger man's body on a bedroom floor. The woman's body was in a bed in another room and was "wrapped in a blanket as if … very cold," the report continued. She had a gunshot wound to the top of the head, the report said.
