Wolves could use change of fortune on the road

Preview: Having wrapped up a defensively challenged 1-3 homestand, the Timberwolves head out for their penultimate game on the road, where they are 10-29 this season. Minnesota has lost two straight, three of four and eight of the past 10. The Mavericks have lost 11 of their past 14 but are coming off a 122-102 victory over Philadelphia on Monday, a victory that came with 76ers starters Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler held out of action.

Players to watch: Wolves F Gorgui Dieng has had a strong stretch, shooting 74.1 percent and averaging 15.0 points in his past three games off the bench. G Tyus Jones was the Wolves' only plus player in Monday's loss to Portland. He had 14 points and 10 assists. C Karl-Anthony Towns has averaged 19.3 points in his past four games, shooting just 25-for-72 (34.7 percent). Mavs F Dirk Nowitzki likely will play his final game against the Wolves. F Justin Jackson is coming off a 24-point, six-rebound, three-assist game vs. Philadelphia.

Numbers: The Wolves are 0-2 vs. Dallas this season, allowing an average of 129.5 points. The Wolves allowed an average of 37.5 first-quarter points during their four-game homestand.

Injuries: Wolves F Taj Gibson (left calf strain), F Robert Covington (right knee), F Luol Deng (Achilles), G Derrick Rose (elbow surgery) and G Jeff Teague (left foot) are out. Mavs G Luka Doncic (thigh) is doubtful. G J.J. Barea (Achilles surgery), G Tim Hardaway Jr. (leg) and F Kristaps Porzingis (knee surgery) are out.
