Tim Gunn denies that Lifetime asked him to pull his Facebook vlog criticizing last week's "Project Runway" challenge to create American sportswear with Jackie Kennedy as inspiration as "cuckoo."

The beloved fashion mentor on "P.R." perhaps got a little too salty for some people's tastes. In the vlog, he said: "Look, I'm not an idiot. The whole notion that we would even associate Jackie Kennedy with American sportswear is a stretch. I was about to say preposterous, but it's really a stretch. ... If anything she brought European designers into the vocabulary of America. That's what she was all about."

He expounds on his clash with the judges over the segment. He said the judges weren't being fair in their interpretation of the looks based on the directives that Gunn had given the contestants. "You cannot tell me that [Jackie] would still be wearing a shift. She wouldn't be! ... And don't mess with my designers, judges!"

He explained to the New York Post that the vlog yanking was voluntary: "There was a hurtful reaction to a couple of things I said, and that really concerned me. That was never my intention. I thought, 'Let me just take this down.' Lifetime had nothing to do with it. I did it completely on my own."
