Thursday's prep roundup

Orono rallied twice — in the second half and in the second overtime — before defeating host Chaska 85-81 in triple overtime Thursday night in a nonconference boys' basketball game.

Colton Codute scored all six points for the Class 3A, No. 6 Spartans in the third overtime.

Codute scored the first four points of the third overtime and sealed the victory with a pair of free throws with eight seconds left.

The senior finished the game with 23 points. He had a chance to end the game in final seconds of regulation, but his layup was blocked by Chaska's Matt Eliason.

Jarvis Omersa Thomas had 32 points for the Hawks before fouling out with 15.3 seconds left in the third overtime.

His fifth foul sent the Hawks to the free-throw line with the opportunity to tie the score. However, both shots were missed, and Orono escaped with the victory.

Cole Nicholson led the Hawks with 39 points. Conner Krenos had 12 points and Eliason had 10.

Wayzata 3, Hill-Murray 1: Griffin Ness scored his second goal of the game 5:55 into the third period to put the Class 2A, No. 12 Trojans ahead for good. He also scored early in the first period. Troy Tischler tied the score 6:36 into the second period for the No. 18 Pioneers. Luke Fairchild sealed the victory for the Trojans on the power play with 1:47 left in the third period.

Farmington 5, Prior Lake 4: Eleanor Moser scored her second goal of the game and 100th of her career with 47 seconds left in the game to give the Class 2A, No. 16 Tigers the victory over the host Lakers. Jenna Gerold, who also had an assist earlier in the game, tied the score for the Tigers on the power play 18 seconds earlier. Carly Lancaster and Gabriella Hudson also scored for the Tigers. Leah Pavlish scored two goals to lead the Lakers. Taylor Murray had a goal and two assists, Mackenzie Salentre and Kelly Gleason had two assists each and Katie Huntington had a goal for the Lakers.

Shakopee 4, Lakeville North 3: Sophie Stoffers scored her second goal of the game on a power play with 1:42 left in the game to give the Sabers the victory over the visiting Panthers. She tied the score with a shorthanded goal with 1:42 left in the second period. Emily Roder and Paige McNeil also scored for the Sabers. Jayden Neameyer had two goals and an assist to lead the Panthers while Erin Olson had a goal and an assist and Brooke Power had two assists.
