Orono rallied twice — in the second half and in the second overtime — before defeating host Chaska 85-81 in triple overtime Thursday night in a nonconference boys' basketball game.
Colton Codute scored all six points for the Class 3A, No. 6 Spartans in the third overtime.
Codute scored the first four points of the third overtime and sealed the victory with a pair of free throws with eight seconds left.
The senior finished the game with 23 points. He had a chance to end the game in final seconds of regulation, but his layup was blocked by Chaska's Matt Eliason.
Jarvis Omersa Thomas had 32 points for the Hawks before fouling out with 15.3 seconds left in the third overtime.
His fifth foul sent the Hawks to the free-throw line with the opportunity to tie the score. However, both shots were missed, and Orono escaped with the victory.
Cole Nicholson led the Hawks with 39 points. Conner Krenos had 12 points and Eliason had 10.
Spring Lake Park 64, Coon Rapids 63: Blake Remme scored 20 points to lead the Panthers past the visiting Cardinals. Marshall Holland led the Cardinals with 22 points.
