These are true geniuses--Edwidge Danticat, whose searing, disturbing stories from her country of Haiti carry a crystalline power. Read "The Dew-Breaker." Wow.

Also, Deborah Eisenberg, short-story writer and author of "Twilight of the Superheroes" (not to be confused with "Twilight"), and poet Heather McHugh.
