OUT OF OPTIONS

Three Twins players who spent part of 2015 in the minor leagues no longer can be sent down without exposing them to waivers, which would enable another team to claim them. The trio of now-or-never Twins:

OF OSWALDO ARCIA

2015: Batted .276 with two home runs in 19 games for the Twins, and .199 with 12 home runs in 79 games with Class AAA Rochester.

Outlook: Wresting a starting spot in the Twins outfield is a long shot, but Arcia is expected to make the team as a power hitter off the bench and insurance in case Byung Ho Park's transition to the majors is a slow one.

IF/OF DANNY SANTANA

2015: Lost starting shortstop job by batting .218 in 49 games with the Twins, and he finished the season with only eight stolen bases after stealing 20 in 24 attempts in 2014.

Outlook: His versatility makes him a good bet to make the team as a utility player, and he could man center field again if Byron Buxton isn't ready.

RHP MICHAEL TONKIN

2015: Spent most of the season at Rochester but was recalled five different times to Minnesota, where he posted a 3.47 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 23⅓ innings.

Outlook: There are bullpen spots available, but with at least a dozen serious candidates to claim them, he will need a strong set of spring outings.
