Three Rivers Park budget on the line

November 10, 2012 at 10:31PM

Three Rivers Park commissioners will hold a public hearing about the system's proposed 2013 general fund budget and operating levy on Thursday.

The total property tax levy is $40.2 million, the same amount that was levied in 2012. The proposed general fund budget is slightly more than $34 million.

The district owns 15 trails and 21 parks, park reserves and special areas that cover about 27,000 acres, mostly in suburban Hennepin County.

Citizens can comment on the budget proposals at a public hearing that begins at 5 p.m. at the Three Rivers Park District Administrative Center, 3000 Xenium Lane N. in Plymouth.

Following the public hearing, the Three Rivers Board will consider adopting the 2013 general fund budget at its regular meeting.

The Hennepin County Board must also review the park district's budget before it receives final approval next month.
