In his latest Web video, DFL gubernatorial candidate Paul Thissen is on the mound.

He pitches to "unemployment." One, two, three strikes and out.

He pitches to "unfair taxes." Strike out.

And he pitches to "class sizes." And that is outta there.

Here's his explanation: "Paul Thissen is committed to facing ALL of Minnesota's toughest challenges, even those facing our hometown teams. While team Thissen believes that Jon Rauch is doing an excellent job filling in for the injured Joe Nathan, we'd like to suggest that Manager Ron Gardenhire may have other options...just in case."

Thissen, a state representative, is one of six candidates vying for the DFL party's endorsement next weekend who have pledged to drop out if they do not get their party's nod.

So, does Thissen prove himself a pitcher? Or a belly itcher?
