ARENA Bikini: Iconoclash

What better way to cap MNfashion Week than with scantily clad dancers and models? The sexiest fundraiser in town, ARENA Dances' bikini event combines live dance performance with a runway show featuring locally designed swimwear. Vision models and ARENA dancers will walk the runway in looks from Tekno Doll Swimwear, Allilamodie, ArielSimone and Kelly Ver Duin to choreography by ARENA's Mathew Jaczewski. The night also includes live dance performances, a silent auction, appetizers, cash bar and a post-event dance party. More event details.

Sol Inspirations

One of MNfashion Week's first big events puts the spotlight on ethical fashion. Minnesota's first large-scale eco-fashion show, Sol Inspirations, challenges designers to come up with looks that incorporate nontraditional fabrics, recycled materials, sustainable fabrics and even solar panels. The show, produced by the local nonprofit Global Eco Organization, gets some help from a trio of "Project Runway" alumni (who are no strangers to an unusual materials challenge): Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman, Christopher Straub and Season 7 winner Seth Aaron Henderson. Coleman and Straub join Allilamodie, Tara Latour Designs, Niki English and the team of Atom Pechman and Jenn Bratvold to vie for a $5,000 prize. A runway show will feature Henderson's solar panel-utilizing SolarWorld collection, plus eco-friendly looks from Kathryn V, CounterCouture, Jenny Carle and Renalie Bailey, and a U of M student showcase incorporating solar cells that charge iPods and cellphones embedded in garments. (7-10 p.m. Sat. $15-$75. The Depot, www.sol-inspirations.org.)

Found Footage Festival

Remember that cheesy training video from your first job? Don't be surprised if it turns up in Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett's Found Footage fest, a pastiche of hilarious video oddities the duo has collected from garage sales, thrift stores and trash bins. Highlights include self-help videos about becoming a better lover, businessman and bowler through hypnosis and a debaucherous 1980s home movie, along with colorful commentary from Prueher and Pickett. The night begins with a 25th-anniversary screening of "Heavy Metal Parking Lot," a short documentary about the brain-cell-slaughtering tailgating scene before a 1986 Judas Priest concert. (8 p.m. Sun. $12. Heights Theater, 3951 Central Av. NE., Mpls. www.foundfootagefest.com.)
